Experiment in the small

Auteur:
Louis-Philippe Huberdeau

Technology move fast. Every week there are new frameworks and libraries. In the past years, it seems like data stores have been appearing at an even faster rate. Each of them claims to be a revolution. Those that have been around for a while know that revolutions don’t happen that often. Those claims set expectations very high.

The scene :
a human is working on his computer while a robot is standing idly by.

Robot: Hey! I've got a joke for you.
Human: Not right now. I'm busy. Aren't you supposed to do the laundry?
Robot: Seems to me you're not so busy as not to be chatting up about your dirty clothes.
Human turns around to stare are at Robot: You're starting to annoy the crap out of me. You know?
Robot: Well, there's no robotic law against that.
Human: I'm gonna write one.

Mais il est un peu moins évident de trouver les réponses aux questions suivantes (quand on pense à se les poser…):

- Quels sont les droits d’auteurs sur cette image ?

- Quelles sont les conditions pour utiliser cette image ?

Intellectual Property vs Copyright

Auteur:
Daniel Morissette

In the past I have often used the terms Intellectual Property and Copyright to mean essentially the same thing, without realizing that this was incorrect. Maybe that was because English is not my native language, but probably not since I have actually heard several others making the same mistake as well.

Why was my account locked?

Auteur:
Evan Prodromou

Over the last few weeks, a few high-profile accounts on Identi.ca, like @methoddan and @jezra, were inexplicably locked out of the system. I'm currently analyzing the possible causes, but I wanted to give a general idea of what's going on.

Here are my current suspected causes:

Yet more checkerboarding analysis

Auteur:
William Lachance

I’ve been spending a bit more time on refining the checkerboarding tests in Eideticker that I talked about last time. Most of my work has been focused on making the results as representative of a real world scenario as possible, to that effect I’ve been working on:
