The Ville de Montréal has machine-readable data

In addition to a KML file of work sites from Info-travaux, the city publishes its restaurant infractions in XML! Here is its undocumented API:

GET http://ville.montreal.qc.ca/pls/portal/portalcon.contrevenants_recherche?p_mot_recherche=:keywords,:criteria,:year

Parameters

keywords may be blank or a string.
criteria may be blank, “proprietaire”, “adresse”, “ville”, “categorie” or “tous”.
year may be blank or a year in YYYY format. No records exist for years prior to 2007.

Notes

If keywords is blank and criteria is not “tous”, all records will be returned (year is ignored).
If keywords and year are blank and criteria is “tous”, only records from the current year will be returned.
You cannot combine a keywords search and a year search: as long as keywords is not blank, it takes precedence.
Matches are not exact. A keywords search with the keyword “Restaurant” will match “Restaurant”, “Restaurant service rapide”, “Restaurant mets à emporter”, etc.
