C’est un peu plus de 40 développeurs Web et d’applications qui ont participé au hackathon d’applications pour FirefoxOS le 25 mai dernier à Montréal. Dès 10h du matin, les participants ont pu échanger autour d’un déjeuner avant quatre présentations et enfin une session de hack intense et fructueuse.

Another update on getting Eideticker working with FirefoxOS. Once again this is sort of high-level, looking forward to writing something more in-depth soon now that we have the basics working.

Last summer I wrote a bit about using Eideticker to measure the relative performance of Firefox for Android versus other browsers (Chrome, stock, etc.).

Just wanted to give a quick heads up that as part of the ateam’s ongoing effort to improve the documentation of our automated testing infrastructure, we now have online documentation for mozdevice, the python library we use for interacting with Android- and FirefoxOS-based devices in automated testing.

Quick update on my last post about finding some kind of camera suitable for use in automated performance testing of fennec and b2g with eideticker. Shortly after I wrote that, I found out about a company called Point Grey Research which manufactures custom web cameras intended for exactly the sorts of things we’re doing. Initial results with the Flea3 camera I ordered from them are quite promising:

pTaking advantage of a new hard drive, I decided to reinstall my Ubuntu (Precise 12.04.2) laptop from scratch so that I could easily enable full-disk encryption (a requirement for Mozilla work laptops)./p

pReinstalling and reconfiguring everything takes a bit of time though, so here's the procedure I followed to keep the configuration to a minimum./p
